Soccer Game Preview: Hempstead vs. Lone Tree

The Hempstead Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Lone Tree Lions at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hempstead's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Hempstead turned things around against Cedar Falls on Tuesday. They and the Tigers finished up their match with a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Hempstead's first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, Lone Tree was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Prairie, falling 5-1. That's two games in a row now that Lone Tree have lost by exactly four goals.

Hempstead's draw makes their record 2-5-1 this season. As for Lone Tree, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6-2.

Hempstead might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from Lone Tree in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
