Softball Recap: Kellis Cougars vs. Apollo Hawks
Kellis can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Wednesday. They blew past the Apollo Hawks 20-1. The victory was just what Kellis needed coming off of a 19-1 defeat in their prior matchup.
Adrianna Mendez was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Garcia, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4.
On Apollo's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Veloz, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Kellis has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Apollo, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home.
Kellis will take on La Joya Community at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Kellis is facing La Joya Community at the right time seeing as La Joya Community is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Apollo, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Centennial at 6:00 p.m.
