Softball Recap: Union Area Scotties vs. New Castle Hurricanes

Union Area won against Cornell last Wednesday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Union Area Scotties blew past the New Castle Hurricanes 18-12. Union Area's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Olivia Williams was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Tori May was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

On New Castle's side, Gabby Mangieri made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Aycealea Rose, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Union Area pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for New Castle, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Union Area will be staying on the road on Sunday to face off against Neshannock at 2:00 p.m. One thing working in Union Area's favor is that they have posted big run totals every time they've taken the field this season. As for New Castle, they will head out on the road to face off against Moon Area at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. New Castle is facing Moon Area at the right time seeing as Moon Area is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
