Baseball Recap: Gillespie Takes a Loss

Gillespie managed to slip by Heyworth the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Gillespie lost 11-3 to Heyworth on Saturday. The Miners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Gillespie saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Griffith, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Carson Hailstone was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Even though they lost, Gillespie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
