Basketball Recap: Aleah Singleton Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Martinsville

Franklin Community won the last time they faced Martinsville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs came out on top against the Martinsville Artesians by a score of 45-32. The Grizzly Cubs didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Franklin Community got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aleah Singleton out in front who posted seven points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Izzy Stillabower, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points.

Franklin Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Martinsville lost, don't look at Layla Mallery. Despite the final result, she earned nine points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Jade Meade was another key player, putting up four points and seven boards.

Franklin Community's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Martinsville, they dropped their record down to 6-15 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Franklin Community didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-50 loss against Jennings County on the 30th. As for Martinsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 47-35 win against Edgewood on the 30th.
