Basketball Game Preview: Ravenna Bluejays vs. Minden Whippets

The Ravenna Bluejays will head out to square off against the Minden Whippets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Ravenna is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Wood River on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Ravenna was beaten by Wood River 68-41.

Kellie Huryta put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted ten points. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Larsen, who had seven points.

Meanwhile, Minden faced Oakland-Craig in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Minden fell 67-58 to Oakland-Craig. The Whippets' loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Ravenna's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Minden, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 10-1.

Ravenna barely slipped by Minden in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 45-44. Will Ravenna repeat their success, or does Minden have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
