New Palestine had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Beech Grove Hornets 13-1 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won 15 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
New Palestine got a great performance from Sadey Hughbanks as she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Hughbanks has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Katie Hirschy was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Jersi Gross also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
