London is a perfect 5-0 against Urbana since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Red Raiders will be playing at home against the Hillclimbers at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (London has six straight wins, Urbana has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, London got the win against Indian Lake by a conclusive 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Red Raiders, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Khloe Cunningham, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Khloe Spencer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: London kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive contests.
North Union hit Urbana with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hillclimbers lost 8-1 to the Wildcats.
London pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Urbana, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
Urbana's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: London has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. It's a different story for Urbana, though, as they've only averaged .333. Will they be able to contain London's hitters?
Everything went London's way against Urbana in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as London made off with a 28-10 victory. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Hillclimbers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
