Softball Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners

The Coronado Cougars will square off against the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Coronado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Palo Verde, who was ranked first at the time (Coronado was ranked tenth). The Cougars fell 6-2 to the Panthers on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.

Coronado saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Lopez, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Southeast Career Tech waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Rattlers a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Roadrunners, who have now won 13 matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Southeast Career Tech pushed their record up to 17-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.

Everything went Coronado's way against Southeast Career Tech when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Coronado made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Roadrunners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
