Basketball Game Preview: Lee County Yellow Jackets vs. Southern Lee Cavaliers

Lee County is 2-8 against Southern Lee since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lee County Yellow Jackets will look to defend their home court against the Southern Lee Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. Lee County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season.

Lee County is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-49 heartbreaker at the hands of Scotland.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mj Sanders, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Nick Farrow, who posted 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Southern Lee's undefeated season came to an end after 13 games on Tuesday. They took a 77-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of Union Pines. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cavaliers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Vikings are ranked 303rd).

Lee County now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Southern Lee, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 13-1.

Lee County came up short against Southern Lee in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 54-48. Can Lee County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
