Soccer Game Preview: Manor New Tech vs. Giddings

Manor New Tech will venture away from home to face off against the Giddings Buffaloes at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Manor New Tech comes in on three and Giddings on six.

Manor New Tech is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Caldwell an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. Given Manor New Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Caldwell is ranked 654th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Giddings hadn't done well against Taylor recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Giddings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Taylor. Four seems to be a good number for the Buffaloes as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Manor New Tech pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those six contests. As for Giddings, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Everything went Manor New Tech's way against Giddings in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Manor New Tech made off with a 4-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Manor New Tech since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
