Recap: Southbridge Pioneers vs. Oxford Pirates
Even though the Southbridge Pioneers have not done well against the Oxford Pirates recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Southbridge enjoyed a cozy 66-50 victory over Oxford. The win made it back-to-back wins for Southbridge.
Oxford lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Andruw Martinez, who scored 15 points. Brady Marqoupis was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Southbridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for Oxford, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southbridge will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Blackstone-Millville at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for Oxford, they will head out on the road to challenge Leicester at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Leicester has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 21.
