South Side is 1-6 against Shenango since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Rams will host the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. South Side will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
South Side came out on top against Carlynton on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Rams took their matchup against the Cougars 12-7.
Ryan Shaw made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, South Side let Will Hudson and Andrew Corfield run wild. Hudson got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Corfield got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those five RBI gave Hudson a new career-high. Brooks Mzyk was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
South Side always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carlynton only posted an OBP of .353.
Meanwhile, Shenango fell victim to Laurel and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 6-0. The Wildcats have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Shenango's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for South Side, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Side has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Shenango struggles in that department as they've averaged .499. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Side came out on top in a nail-biter against Shenango when the teams last played back in April of 2022, sneaking past 10-9. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
