Preview: Eastside Blazers vs. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights
Eastside has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After only three points in their last game, Eastside made sure to put some points up on the board against Wabash on Friday. Eastside breezed by Wabash at home to the tune of 48-7. The result was nothing new for Eastside, who have now won five games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Linkin Carter was on fire: he rushed for 130 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Wyatt Davis and his 105 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Eastside's win.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last matchup, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers made sure to put some points up on the board against Churubusco on Friday. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers walked away with a 41-30 win over Churubusco. Given Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Churubusco is ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fort Wayne Bishop Luers to victory, but perhaps none more so than Giovanny Jimenez, who rushed for 65 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Mickey Daring, who rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown.
Eastside is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-3.
Things could have been worse for Eastside, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 35-21 loss to Fort Wayne Bishop Luers in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can Eastside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
