Football Recap: Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats vs. Crofton Warriors

After flying high against Niobrara/Verdigre last Friday, Hartington-Newcastle came back down to earth. The Wildcats lost 52-30 to the Crofton Warriors on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Sudbeck, who rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 229 yards and one TD while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Mason Krause was another key player, picking up 135 receiving yards and one score.

Tyson Jackson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 143 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry for Crofton. Jackson showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 56 yards. Another player making a difference was Jace Panning, who rushed for 88 yards and one TD.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hartington-Newcastle fell to 4-1. As for Crofton, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
