Cherry Valley-Springfield hadn't done well against Milford Central recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Patriots had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in April, they had to take a 6-3 loss.

Bailey Thayer made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Thayer wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kyra Druse, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Lexi Dygert, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Cherry Valley-Springfield's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Milford Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
