Basketball Recap: Massena Raiders vs. Ogdensburg Free Academy Blue Devils
Even though the Ogdensburg Free Academy Blue Devils scored an imposing 59 points on Monday, the Massena Raiders still came out on top. Massena walked away with a 68-59 victory over the Blue Devils. Given Massena's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 664th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Taylor Mitchell, who scored 27 points along with four steals. He hasn't dropped below 16 points for nine straight games. Colin Patterson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Massena has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Ogdensburg Free Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Massena won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Golden Bears at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Canton will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Ogdensburg Free Academy is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Sandstoners at 7:15 p.m. on February 10th.
