Baseball Recap: Grayson County Wins Going Away Against Butler County

While Grayson County put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Butler County. The Cougars put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 6-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won six in a row.

The result came thanks to Gage Napier's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 15 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Landon Haycraft was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Chase Baunach was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Grayson County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive contests.

The win got Grayson County back to even at 11-11. As for Butler County, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-9.

Grayson County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
