Basketball Recap: Evansville Bosse Comes Up Short

Evansville Bosse was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Evansville Reitz Panthers. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Evansville Bosse lost, don't look at Marrius Harris. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds. Harris' big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Tizhaun Tomlinson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten boards.

Evansville Reitz was led to victory by Jaylan Mitchell and Luke Lawrence. Mitchell dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds, while Lawrence shot 55% from the field en route to 17 points. The dominant performance also gave Lawrence a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (56%). Another player making a difference was Jayce Swanson, who posted four points along with seven boards and five assists.

Evansville Bosse's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Evansville Reitz, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
