Eldorado and St. Pius X are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Eldorado Golden Eagles will take on the St. Pius X Sartans in a tournament on Tuesday. Eldorado is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Eldorado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Cibola, who was ranked third at the time (Eldorado was ranked sixth). Everything went Eldorado's way against Cibola on Friday as Eldorado made off with a 10-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.

Timothy Kamphuis was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Gonzales, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Kamphuis wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Eldorado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, St. Pius X lost 18-7 to Volcano Vista on Saturday. The Sartans have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meetings.

Brennan Craver was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. Dominic Ramsey was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Eldorado pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for St. Pius X, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Eldorado was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Pius X when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 7-4. Will Eldorado repeat their success, or does St. Pius X have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
