Highlands had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Cooper Jaguars. That's more bragging rights for the Bluebirds, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kaitlyn Dixon spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Payton Brown was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Morgan Pompilio was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Highlands hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cooper struck out eight times.

Highlands' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cooper, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-17.

Coming up, Highlands will face off against Boone County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.32 runs per game on average), something the Bluebirds will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cooper, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Scott at 5:30 p.m.
