Baseball Recap: Monsignor Pace Takes a Loss

If Monsignor Pace was feeling good fresh off their 16-6 takedown of Palmer Trinity last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Monsignor Pace fell just short of the St. Brendan Sabres by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sabres apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2021.

Aiden Rivero was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Monsignor Pace saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yuniel Paredes, who went 2-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Paredes hit this season.

Monsignor Pace's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7. As for St. Brendan, they pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monsignor Pace will head out to face off against Belen Jesuit at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Brendan, they will venture away from home to take on Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
