Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Rebecca Rodriguez and Abby White Lead Escondido to Victory

Escondido's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They never let the Rancho Bernardo Broncos get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Leading Escondido to victory were Abby White and Rebecca Rodriguez. White threw for 135 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 72.4% of her passes, while Rodriguez picked up 19 receiving yards and two scores. The dominant performance also gave White a new career-high in rushing yards (ten).

Escondido's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.2 points over those games. As for Rancho Bernardo, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Escondido will take on Otay Ranch in a tournament on Saturday. As for Rancho Bernardo, they will head out to challenge Carlsbad at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers' defense has only allowed 5.3 points per game this season, so the Broncos' offense will have their work cut out for them.
