Baseball Game Preview: Kirksville Tigers vs. Green City Gophers

Kirksville is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Green City is on a 12-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will host the Gophers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Kirksville's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Lafayette. The Tigers have beaten the Fighting Irish the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Fighting Irish has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Green City earned a 4-0 victory over Milan on Monday. That's two games straight that the Gophers have won by exactly four runs.

Ty Hall was a major factor no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Kirksville's win bumped their record up to 14-16. As for Green City, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.

Kirksville was able to grind out a solid win over Green City when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Gophers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
