Football Recap: Centennial Bulldogs vs. Desert Hills Thunder
On Friday, the Centennial Bulldogs came up short against the Desert Hills Thunder and fell 43-32. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Centennial lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Khyren Harris, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Harris' longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden "Jet" Thomas, who picked up 147 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Centennial, adding 15 points to the final score. All came courtesy of Nicholas Rassai: he went 4-for-4 kicking field goals for 12 points, and 3-for-3 kicking extra points for an additional three.
Tytan Mason went supernova for Desert Hills, rushing for 268 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry, and also catching a touchdown. Gerritt Grondel was another key player, throwing for 196 yards and two touchdowns.
Centennial's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2. As for Desert Hills, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Centennial will host Snow Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Desert Hills, they will face off against Pine View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
