Volleyball Recap: Deseret Peak Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Camaira Sacre and Amelia Cannon

Deseret Peak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Sky View Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Deseret Peak was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-13, 25-17.

Deseret Peak's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Amelia Cannon, who had 13 digs and two aces, and Camaira Sacre, who had 16 digs and three assists. Cannon is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Sky View was led to victory by Brynn Spackman and Reese Seeley. Spackman had 17 digs and four aces, while Seeley had four digs and three aces. Those four aces gave Spackman a new career-high. Grace Hardman also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Deseret Peak's defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Sky View, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.

Deseret Peak wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Mountain Crest on the 7th. As for Sky View, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Tooele on the 7th.
