Basketball Game Preview: Houston Hilltoppers vs. Calhoun City Wildcats

Houston and Calhoun City are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Houston Hilltoppers will head out to square off against the Calhoun City Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Houston needed a bit of extra time to put away Houlka. They pulled ahead with a 64-63 photo finish over the Wildcats. Winning may never get old, but the Hilltoppers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Meanwhile, Calhoun City won against West Lowndes on Saturday with 82 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Calhoun City took their game with ease, bagging an 82-34 win over Vardaman. The matchup marked the Wildcats' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Calhoun City's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Houston, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Houston suffered a grim 78-52 defeat to Calhoun City when the teams last played back in February. Can Houston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
