Basketball Recap: Falls City Takes a Loss

Falls City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 24th straight defeat dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 48-32 to the Fairbury Jeffs. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Jeffs from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Falls City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Paxton Armbruster went 6-for-11 on his way to 13 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Armbruster a new career-high in field goal percentage (55%).

Fairbury's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brodie Prellwitz, who went 5-for-12 en route to 14 points and six boards. Korey Nippert was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Falls City's loss dropped their record down to 0-22. As for Fairbury, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-14.

Coming up, Falls City will face off against Milford at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Milford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season. As for Fairbury, they will take on Conestoga at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
