Deep Creek and Nansemond River are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Hornets will venture away from home to square off against the Warriors at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Deep Creek has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Nansemond River will come in with three straight victories.

Deep Creek fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Kellam on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 8-7.

Nina Goebel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 4-for-5. Hailey Lack was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Nansemond River beat Arcadia 5-1 on Tuesday.

Bailey Hare was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Cosby, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Nansemond River's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Deep Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Deep Creek beat Nansemond River 11-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
