In this week's power rankings, we saw one team go soaring up and another team come crashing down, along with everything in between. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
Welcome
Central Falls not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent Smithfield in every quarter. Everything went Central Falls's way against Smithfield as it secured a 51 - 6 win. Senior Jordan Alvarado was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he ran for 165 yards and also punched in one touchdown). Thanks to its success, Central Falls cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 25th spot.
Can't Touch This
Shea got a 34 - 31 win over Cranston East last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Jaylen L. Smith. Smith rushed for 228 yards and two touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Smith as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
Movin on Up
North Smithfield/Mount St. Charles Academy claimed most-improved honors this week by climbing the power ranking ladder 13 rungs after its game against Toll Gate. North Smithfield/Mount St. Charles Academy put the hurt on Toll Gate with a conclusive 35 - 0 victory. 35 is shaping up to be North Smithfield/Mount St. Charles Academy's lucky number as the team posted the same point total in its win over North Providence the game before.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Bishop Hendricken (2nd in the power rankings) and North Kingstown (1st). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out which team fails to repeat its success.
