Soccer Game Preview: Loyola vs. Crespi

The Loyola Cubs will head out to square off against the Crespi Celts at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Loyola will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

On Wednesday, Loyola made easy work of Sierra Canyon and carried off a 4-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cubs, who have now won nine matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Crespi's game on Wednesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Notre Dame (SO). While losing is never fun, the Celts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 321st, while the Knights are ranked 47th).

Loyola's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-0-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those six contests. As for Crespi, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7-1.

Everything went Loyola's way against Crespi when the teams last played last Monday, as Loyola made off with a 4-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loyola since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
