Softball Recap: Steinbrenner Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Steinbrenner came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Alonso Ravens. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 last Thursday.

Steinbrenner got a great performance from Lilly Patton as she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Patton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jenna Fortenberry was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Berkley Demetter, who scored a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Steinbrenner pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Alonso, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6.

Looking ahead, Steinbrenner will take on Newsome at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Alonso, they will head out on the road to challenge Sickles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Ravens' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gryphons have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
