Baseball Game Preview: Sumner Cowboys vs. Hammond Tornadoes

The Sumner Cowboys will square off against the Hammond Tornadoes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Sumner's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Hammond has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Sumner will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Hammond on Friday. Sumner was the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Hammond. Considering the Cowboys have won four games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Connor Forrest was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Eli Neyland was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Sumner's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Hammond, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
