Softball Recap: Poth Triumphs

Poth came out on top against Luling on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Pirates walked away with an 11-7 victory over the Eagles. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.

Abby Skloss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Poth got a massive performance out of Ava Kroll, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave Kroll a new career-high. Kynzlie Gaylor was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Poth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Poth's record now sits at 24-6. As for Luling, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

Coming up, Poth will be playing in front of their home fans against Goliad at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Luling does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
