Softball Game Preview: Upperman Bees vs. DeKalb County Tigers

The Upperman Bees will square off against the DeKalb County Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Upperman's offense. They came up short against Gordonsville on Wednesday, falling 7-0. The loss continues a trend for the Bees in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, DeKalb County unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Stone Memorial by a score of 5-4.

Kora Kilgore put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Zayleigh Bain made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Hannah Brown also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Upperman's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for DeKalb County, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-6.
