Baseball Recap: Tell City Wins Going Away Against Cannelton

Tell City had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 22-run drubbing they dealt Cannelton on Monday. The Marksmen blew past the Bulldogs 26-4. That looming 26-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Marksmen yet this season.

Landon Sandage was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBI. He has become a key player for Tell City: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam O'Malley, who went 3-for-5 with four runs and two RBI.

Tell City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cannelton only posted a batting average of .059.

The win (which was Tell City's third in a row) raised their record to 4-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Cannelton, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tell City will challenge Hancock County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Marksmen are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Cannelton, they will square off against Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
