Baseball Game Preview: East Nicolaus Spartans vs. Paradise Bobcats

For the second straight game, East Nicolaus will face off against Paradise. The Spartans will host the Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

East Nicolaus is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Paradise get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Brody Johnson and Braden Hardwick made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Johnson didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Hardwick pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave Johnson a new career-high. At bat, Johnson went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Hardwick got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Hardwick is becoming a predictor of East Nicolaus' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Daven Earhart was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Mikey Robbins was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

East Nicolaus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

East Nicolaus now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Paradise, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
