Baseball Recap: Canyon Springs Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the Canyon Springs Cougars came up short against the Orange Vista Coyotes and fell 9-5. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Canyon Springs got a good showing from Colin Carrillo, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Issac Martinez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ayden Wimsatt, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Canyon Springs now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Orange Vista, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon Springs will head out to take on Colton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Orange Vista, they will head out on the road to square off against Linfield Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
