Basketball Recap: Winchester Community Triumphs

Winchester Community won the last time they faced South Adams and Caleb Hummel did his part to make sure it happened again. The Golden Falcons snuck past the Starfires with a 62-57 win on Wednesday for which the team can thank Hummel, who shot 53% from the field on his way to 21 points and three blocks. His big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

South Adams lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tytus Lehman, who posted 13 points and five steals. Lehman is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Owen Roe, who earned nine points and three steals.

Winchester Community's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for South Adams, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Winchester Community will take on Union City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Golden Falcons their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for South Adams, they will square off against Churubusco at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
