Basketball Recap: Washington-Wilkes Takes a Loss

Washington-Wilkes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Oconee Academy Titans. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 512th, while the Titans are ranked 169th).

Leading Lake Oconee Academy to victory were Canon Mullen and Torin Maddox. Mullen almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards, while Maddox dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. The matchup was Mullen's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Wright, who posted nine points.

Washington-Wilkes' defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Lake Oconee Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Washington-Wilkes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-40 loss against Lincoln County on the 21st. As for Lake Oconee Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-52 defeat against Aquinas on the 21st.
