Baseball Game Preview: Platte Canyon Huskies vs. Arrupe Jesuit Generals

Platte Canyon has gone 7-1 against Arrupe Jesuit recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Huskies will welcome the Generals at 4:00 p.m. Platte Canyon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Platte Canyon didn't have quite enough to beat Jefferson and fell 7-6. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dylan Severson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Nathan Laabs also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Arrupe Jesuit came up short against Alameda on Wednesday, falling 16-4.

Arrupe Jesuit saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jared Reyes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Carlos Salais was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Platte Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Arrupe Jesuit, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Platte Canyon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Arrupe Jesuit struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Platte Canyon took their win against Arrupe Jesuit when the teams last played back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 19-1 score. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
