Football Recap: Hugo Sets Scoring Season-High Against Heavener

Hugo scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 35-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Heavener Wolves. The Buffaloes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Hugo still got an impressive performance from Jayka Santillan, who threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 66 yards on only eight carries.

Hugo's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Heavener, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Coming up, Hugo will square off against Bethel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buffaloes will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Heavener, they will take on Prague at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will be up against the Red Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
