Basketball Game Preview: Effingham County Rebels vs. Statesboro Blue Devils

Effingham County is 0-10 against Statesboro since December of 2017 but things could change on Saturday. The Effingham County Rebels are taking a road trip to challenge the Statesboro Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m.

Effingham County is headed into Saturday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Lakeside, falling 50-27.

Meanwhile, Statesboro didn't have too much trouble with South Effingham on Tuesday as they won 54-36. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Statesboro's win came from a few key players Effingham County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gerziya Haggray, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 18 points and three steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Azziza Flowers, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Statesboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 15 consecutive games.

Statesboro's record is now 7-8. As for Effingham County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Effingham County came up short against Statesboro in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 46-34. Can Effingham County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
