Basketball Recap: Mendez Takes a Loss

Mendez lost against Hollywood back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mendez Jaguars had to suffer through a 84-44 loss at the hands of the Hollywood Sheiks. The Jaguars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-17.

Mendez lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Carlos Garcia, who went 6 for 11from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Victor Sauceda, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and six steals.

Mendez's defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Hollywood, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mendez will venture away from home to take on Contreras at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hollywood, they will head out to face off against Sherman Oaks CES at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Sherman Oaks CES knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Hollywood likes a good challenge.
