Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Fife's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Fife took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Franklin Pierce, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Cardinals 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brett Marvel tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Fife saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Christiansen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Fife has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin Pierce, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 7-4 record.
