Softball Recap: Jena Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mamou

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Jena had no problem doing just that on Monday. They blew past the Mamou Demons 16-0. Considering the Giants have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Callie Decker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Bailey Durham, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Jena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Jena has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mamou, their loss dropped their record down to 14-17-1.

Coming up, Jena will host Kinder at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Giants 2, the Yellowjackets 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Mamou does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
