Basketball Recap: Calumet New Tech Falls Despite Big Games from Jayla Anderson and Eunice Guardarrama

Calumet New Tech lost against Calumet Christian back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Warriors lost 52-27 to the Patriots. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-7.

Calumet New Tech's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Eunice Guardarrama, who posted nine points and eight boards, and Jayla Anderson, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten steals. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Calumet Christian found their leader in sophomore Makenna Landkrohn, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 15 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Nora Prim, who earned seven points and six steals.

Calumet New Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Calumet New Tech will head out to challenge Hammond Morton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Governors' defense has only allowed 21.5 points per game this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Calumet Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Westville at 6:00 p.m. on December 11.
