Softball Recap: Mechanicville Takes a Loss

Mechanicville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hoosick Falls, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Red Raiders fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 back in April.

Kendall Beuchner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Riley LaPierre also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Mechanicville and nudges their season record down to 8-8. As for Hoosick Falls, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-3.

Coming up, Mechanicville will head out to face off against Waterford-Halfmoon at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Fordians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.27 runs per game on average), something the Red Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. Hoosick Falls does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
