Volleyball Recap: Cor Jesu Academy Takes Down Ranked St. Joseph's Academy

Cor Jesu Academy faced St. Joseph's Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Chargers came out on top against the Angels by a score of 3-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16.

Leading Cor Jesu Academy to victory were Tori Gallen and Ginnie Normile. Gallen had 14 digs and two aces, while Normile had 18 digs and two aces. What's more, Gallen racked up 15 assists, the most she's had since back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, St. Joseph's Academy still got an impressive performance from Frankie Vonderahe, who had 16 digs and two assists. Vonderahe is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season.

Cor Jesu Academy has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for St. Joseph's Academy, their defeat ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 19-10-1.

Cor Jesu Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Lindbergh on the 16th. St. Joseph's Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
