Gorham dropped their record down to 8-2 on Saturday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scarborough Red Storm. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Rams' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Scarborough, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 8-0. Give their pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

For Scarborough's part, Gorham's batters probably weren't too happy with Erik Swenson, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (he gave up zero walks). Swenson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Scarborough's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Fallona, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Fallona is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Gorham will challenge rival Westbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Scarborough is set to face off against their familiar foe Portland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Red Storm's favor as the team sits on 13 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Bulldogs have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
